A new Italian dining option has arrived in the Back Mountain with the opening of Milan Coal Fired Pizza & Grill.
It celebrated its grand opening Dec. 16 at the Shoppes at Yalick Farms on state Route 415 in Dallas Twp.
The restaurant held a soft opening on Dec. 15 exclusively for first responders as a thank you for their service.

“They work really hard and they take care of us, so we wanted to give back and let them try it first,” co-owner Eric Morales said.
Milan Coal Fired Pizza & Grill features coal-fired pizza along with soups, salads, small plates, pasta dishes, sandwiches and entrees. The restaurant offers a dine-in experience and serves alcohol.
Morales, 24, originally from Kingston, owns the restaurant with his parents, Jose Morales and Blanca Tecotl, his sister, Jessica Tecotl, and her husband, Jorge Fuentes. The family also owns Burrito Loco, which opened next door in 2021.

“We’re a family-owned restaurant,” Morales said. “My dad worked his whole life in Italian food and always wanted to open a place like this.”
The name Milan carries special meaning for the family.
“Milan is my nephew and my godson,” Morales said.
What sets the restaurant apart is its use of coal-fired ovens.
“It’s obviously something different. Not a lot of places around here have coal-fired pizza,” Morales said. “It’s not just a regular slice of pizza. It’s a long process, but it comes out completely different from regular oven pizza. It’s not a huge menu, but it’s enough for a lot of people to enjoy.”
Milan Coal Fired Pizza & Grill is open daily 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
