I’ve never grilled any type of chuck cut. Can this be grilled and eaten like a perfectly good steak? If so, would you recommend grilling on high heat until medium like a ribeye or reverse sear like a tri tip? If it’s not grill material, I’ll just come slow roast it or something. Thanks for the help!

Anything CAN be grilled, it is just a question of SHOULD it be grilled. That doesn’t look like it would grill up too badly. You will have a couple of gristly areas, which won’t be great, but most of that would taste okay on a grill.
Can it? Yes. Should it? Ehhhhh.
You’re better off smoking or braising.
Sear both sides then in a 250 oven until the desired temperature is reached!
Absolutely, full send this bad boy. I’d do a low and slow method of your choice like reverse sear in the oven or sous vide then blast it with some high heat on the grill. Great looking cut of chuck.
Can it be enjoyed like a steak? Absolutely.
Can it be thrown on the grill like a ribeye?
I wouldn’t recommend it.

That was slow cooked for 5 hours at about 180-200. Details in the post.
If you don’t have a smoker do it in the oven.
Done right it’s every bit as good as a ribeye. My wife says ribeye is still better but I think chuck is at least 90% of the way there for less than half the price.
The famous poor mans ribeye and yes it can
If you grind it into burger, sure. You can do it like a brisket or throw it in the crock pot.
You could sous-vide it and finish with a sear on the grill.
You can slow cook it on the grill as well but it’s more complicated.
Yeah it can but it’ll be chewy. Still good imo
Just cooked one last night😋
I just recently bought a 27lb chuck roll.
This meat is good for pot roast and stews, among other related things.
But for me, pot roast, chili colorado, and soups, this will work with.
I’ve never tried grilling it, but I’d give it a shot and see.
Anything can be grilled
Smoke it on indirect heat 220 to 250ish. I am legit doing one with charcoal atm.
Wrap it with butcher paper or foil when its been around 170 for a half hour.
I have. It comes out tough and takes forever to cook. I generally smoke those for like 10 hours or so at 250 degrees.
if you can eat it you can grill it
What I’d do: sear it and put it in the slow cooker. Mississippi Pot Roast.
Poor man’s brisket
I wouldn’t cook it on the grill, but it would be a good way to finish it.
You can grill anything with nipples
Crockpot
If you don’t grill it yourself I will come over and grill it for myself!!!
No, that’s illegal
I smoke them frequently. I have not had much luck grilling, but some do it after poking them full of holes and dry brining for 24 hours.
Nope. It’s from the beef shoulder, hard working muscles. Needs to be braised or sous vide for a long period of time to break down the connective tissues. People who grill this straight from the fridge and eat it like a steak are insane.
Cut it into steaks and grill them. My new favorite steak is a Check steak. The poor man’s ribeye. Delicious!
Do you see that line of fat that goes top to bottom of that chuck? If you cut through that line separating it into two parts, the oval piece on the left makes a damn fine steak. Use the other side as stew, chili or ground meat
Anything can be grilled if you’re brave enough
I will swear by sous vide at 135 for 24 hours and then ice bath and sear it. Makes those absolutely tender and delicious
Oh, you can grill anything with nipples Jack.
