This visually striking cranberry mocktail is a beautiful treat for festive holiday gatherings. A sugared rim provides a snowy touch, complementing the rosemary sprig that resembles a pine tree atop a frosty, cranberry-filled ice cube. White cranberry juice infuses the drink with a sweet, zesty cranberry flavor. Ginger ale adds a shimmery effect, but it’s also easily substituted for sparkling water or sparkling wine for a cocktail.
Snowglobe drinks vary between using sparkling water or a sparkling wine. The drink usually begins with the same base—cranberries and rosemary frozen in water. We chose to use ginger ale so it is an all-ages drink, but you can adjust to the party (and crowd) you’re serving.
Recipe Tips From The Test Kitchen
To make ahead, follow recipe up to Step 1. Remove drinks from freezer just before serving, and continue with Step 2.Use a spoon to help move the cranberries around to best nestle the rosemary in the center of the glass. If using frozen cranberries, pat dry with paper towels to help prevent any juice from leaking its red hue into liquid, if desired. Substitute white cranberry juice and ginger ale for sparkling water. A cranberry flavored soda or sparkling water would also work well. Or try a sparkling wine or Prosecco. You can rim the glass with coconut flakes or crushed peppermint candies. For a cocktail version, add 2 oz. of vodka to each glass.
