I have one that is functionally identical. I got it around the time I switched to doing 80% hydration and I’m not sure what is going wrong but I can’t get good (or usually any) ear. Feels like it kind of sticks to the dough and doesn’t slice properly. If you have good luck with it, post some pictures and details on technique, maybe I’ll be able to figure out what I’m doing wrong, lol.

I love your comment about the purpose of lames. I literally just use kitchen scissors and make a few cuts in the top 🙂
