Unfortunately k food is way more expensive in north America. At least we do have it available

It takes a lot of bones to get that kind of broth. And time. It looks simple, but there are ingredients that don’t make it to the final plate.

Edit: I double checked my spot (Sacramento), this dish is $27 where I am.

But what’s the average wages in the Bay Area vs. South Korea?

Also Seoul Gomtang? That place is legit

  4. I paid $27 for Jack-in-the-Box the other day for myself (usually the same for McDonald’s) .

For sit down service, real food and with all the ban chan too..$30 is cheap..

If you Uber Eats that here would prob costs $45 (I live in Ktown, LA).

So expensive !!!! I miss when food was affordable in the bay

I mean, if you are from SF you’d know everything is expensive there unfortunately. I was in Japan to travel but Korean food in Japan is also expensive on average as well, I don’t know why our Korean cuisine isn’t as accessible financially :/

  8. That’s honestly not bad for bay area.

Korean food in general has gotten pretty expensive in the US.

That’s crazy. That should cost about $7 – $8. It’s meant to be cheap. It’s basically Korean fast food.

    tracks….it’s sf.

down here in LA, hanbaht seollongtahng charges $25.

    so not too far off.

seoul gomtang’ i know those side dishes anywhere

  12. You cant compare prices across the globe.

Its like complaining about Sushi being so expensive outside of Japan in one of the most expensive cities.

The rising cost of food prices is why I’ve started cooking a lot of stuff at home. But… that being said, if you don’t want to stand around and boil and skim bone broth, and chill and skim, and boil some more for a whole day, $30 isn’t the worst price to pay.

  14. Was that for one bowl or for soup for the whole table?

  15. beezkneez331

Hanbat Sulungtang in Ktown Los Angeles is heading towards $30/bowl. 😭

Another reason not to live on the west coast. In addition to all the thefts and crime.

Most Korean food in CA, north or south, is exhorbiently over priced. $52 for some bulgogi and $30 for soup isn’t surprising.

  18. joonjoon

That’s insane, you can get ayce kbbq for that money

I live in the Bay area and travel to Seoul often. I don’t know why most comments are negative though. Yes the price is not surprising but it is also definitely crazy expensive.
