Does this ingredient list seem correct for the MD?

I’m interested in transitioning to a Mediterranean diet & have been looking for a simple ingredient list. There is so much information out there, it is extremely overwhelming. I don’t even know where to start.
Also, I’m very picky. So I would prefer to just have a list of ingredients, that way I can sift through it and create meals from that.

Thank you!

Yea, there’s also one pinned in this sub

Also to add, I know there’s probably a ton of foods beyond this list. I’m mainly just looking for something simple to help me get started!

I don’t know but why is guacamole in the limit column but avocados are in the eat column? In fact everything that can be used in guacamole is in the eat column, what makes guacamole so different?

This list seems like AI and is not really correct. It pairs really weird choices together.

List seems weird. Poorly organized and seems overly restrictive.

Seems a bit off.  Why does it say to limit guacamole, grapes, salsa, marinara and yams? Also ground turkey is in the eat column but regular turkey is in the limit column.  There are probably better lists.

Oh no, what will I do with my…..fish sticks & frosting…

I always try to avoid eating pepperoni and pop tarts at the same time.

Well for starters, it “limits” honey and halloumi (a goat cheese). Two Mediterranean diet staples.

And this, folks, is why relying on AI for information is a terrible idea

I’m guessing this was AI generated. The lists are alphabetical but don’t fit together logically, and there are bits of tell-tale AI-slop (tempura & toaster). I wouldn’t rely on this.

Cheddar and Catfish? Canned fruit and Tuna?

There’s nothing wrong with catfish and no reason to limit it. Blackened catfish fits perfectly in this way of eating (provided you use a limited amount of evoo to cook it instead of a ton of butter).

This list is weird and wrong

I’m Mediterranean and we eat yogurt with almost every meal 💀

This is way too complicated and no not really correct

If it feels very overwhelming, there a few things you could consider- maybe buy a cookbook? There are usually used ones in good condition available. This will give you a few recipes and the basic concepts. As you get more used to the MD you can experiment and adjust the recipes as you prefer.
You could also do an inventory of what you eat now and make more and more incremental changes to get closer to md. For example, can you replace butter with olive oil? Can you replace meat with beans, or mushrooms, or tofu a few times a week? Can you replace a chocolate bar as an afternoon snack with a handful of nuts and a sliced apple? Maybe try a grain bowl for lunch rather than pasta once a week. You can browse the submissions on this Reddit for inspiration, and maybe integrate some of the recipes that look fun.

Should you really avoid canned meat and soups? I’m new to this

Yeah, this looks garbage. Why is Almond milk not allowed, but Quinoa is? Almonds are Mediterranean and Quinoa is from South America.

  19. mynameisnotsparta

You can eat ricotta but limit salsa? Eat dark chocolate but limit grapes? Eat almond but limit almond milk & butter?

    Where’d this list come from?

  20. Ok_Math_2999

Why specifically call out Fritos? Seems odd.

Combining “Provolone and Rabbit” was a choice.
