Wish you all merry Xmass!
Does anyone tried cooking with this book? Do you know the book / recepies? Which ones are your goto ones? Bear in mind I am just a regular European guy who has never been to Korea however I love making kimchi and jjigaes and japchae and gimbap… so any other fairly simple recepies I should try?
Thanks in advance! 🙂

They’ve been showing up in my YouTube feed recently. Don’t have the book, but the recipes via YouTube always look delicious!
i have no idea if this recipe is in there but you should try jeyuk bokkeum. it’s pretty easy imo and so delicious
I have this book and it’s such a lovely tribute to her mom. The recipes are a bit different because they’re written exactly how mom makes them for her family (hard to explain, you’ll see what I mean). Also, the dishes are obviously tried and true meals as opposed to recipes created just for the cookbook
I cook SO MUCH from Umma!! You will love it. Her soybean sprouts banchan is my go-to now.
I just borrowed this one from my library and think I will have to splurge on a copy.
I got this book recently too! So far, my favorite banchan is the gosu musaengchae. The freshness of the cilantro and radish combined with the fruity sweetness of the plum syrup and a little spice from gochugaru is wonderful.
I’ve made the spinach fried rice and the Jangjorim so far i thought both were delicious
I will get a lot of hate for what I’m about to say. I have the book and followed Sarah for a while on IG. I had to unfollow her IG because she started posting random stuff to try to boost engagements – showing her mom’s beauty regime (copying other vain beauty Korean influencers), talking about non-food related stuff and etc. It got pretty annoying.
The book is not bad though, it has some legit recipes but not as complete Korean recipe book as I had hoped. It’s nice to see her cute hard working umma, but please don’t try to pivot your food channel to some other non-food related stuff. Just be you and stay authentic to your core audience.
i watch her videos on youtube and i want this book sooooo bad. her moms food always looks so bomb even when its simple
Just here to share that I loooooove all of their videos and although I haven’t tried any Korean recipes because they seem intimidating, everything they make looks so delectable
Please get back with a review. I’ve been interested in picking it up but I have way too many cookbooks at this point so need them to count.
I got it for Christmas too! I’m so excited!
I want this so bad!
Just got mine and I cannot wait to start cooking!
