Classic Italian dishes are coming back to Lyons with a new family-run restaurant opening downtown, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

Gabriel’s Italian Comfort is set to open at 1 Canal St., in the former Papito’s Burritos space. The owners say the menu will feature traditional Italian comfort food made from longtime family recipes, including spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Parmesan, chicken French, and other familiar favorites.

The restaurant is named in honor of former Lyons mayor Gabe Vardabash, remembered by family members as the heart of Sunday dinners and community connection. Gabriel’s will be open Thursday through Saturday evenings and is already accepting reservations for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
