Surprised to find this beautiful Gaggia espresso maker with nothing more than some pre ground coffee to go with it. My wife booked it and I never looked through the photos. Now I'm wishing I did I could have brought beans and a hand grinder. No way in heck am I running God knows how old pre-ground through this with no scale.

Maybe I should go to a local coffee shop and ask for some 18g dime bags of grounds ahaha

  1. Honestly terrible idea for a rental property. I know someone who has an Airbnb and they went super automatic and get rave reviews on it.

I assume 90% of the people renting it don’t even touch it, 9.8% make the worst coffee you have ever seen with it and don’t clean it properly, possibly even reviewing poorly based on that. The remaining .2% who know how it works and how to dial in beans don’t care enough to deal with it on vacation so they just make drip or buy a shot up the street.

If you’re there for more than a few days I’d get some freshly grounded coffee in ziplocs from a local shop if possible.

It’s just for looks! Most people don’t even know how to use a machine like this.

Just get some freshly ground beans at the local cafe from a local roaster and thank your lucky stars. I’ve done that a couple times with an aeropress and it’s heaven.

I’d see what you can do with that pre-ground whatever. When I’m on vacation I just send it with what’s available. Lobby pot? Let’s go. Nespresso? Off to the grocery for a couple of packs of pods. I know I won’t get what I really want til I get back home, so I just make sure I don’t get sick from withdrawal with whatever is available. Sometimes that’s even a can of Starbucks cold coffee.

You guys are nuts lol, I’d be hyped on this setup, It’s not like it’s fkn rocket science. Making espresso with pre-ground is easy. You don’t need an $800 grinder or a scale, it’ll still taste good. The illy would probably be fine but if you wanted to just get ur own coffee. Lmao ppl in here acting like they’d rather drink McCafe

If anyone watch Ryan Trahan’s cross country trek, I think it was his airbnb in St. Augustine, Florida that had a Linea Mini and he briefly showed it. He’s a coffee guy so he knew how to use it.

I have a breville barista pro and a keurig in my Airbnb. I include a QR code to a short tutorial, a bag of fresh beans from my favorite local roaster, and some Kirkland brand whole milk boxes (the juice box horizontally style ones) in the fridge.

I get so many great reviews around the espresso machine

If there’s a pressurized portafilter, I’d use it with the pre-ground Illy. Hey, free coffee is free coffee.
