Bello just opened taking over Popolo. Wasn’t a fan of the previous place’s Sicilian-style thick pizza slices. Meanwhile I never tried Bello when they in Bloor West Village. So seeing them open here was a welcome surprise.

Had a slice of their mushroom and weekly special sausage and peppers ($8 each). Not bad. Firstly, the slices are on the larger side. Combined with the generous amount of toppings (especially cheese) the slices are noticeably heavier too than the usual. The crust was crispy and firm, but not too thick. Wish it had a bit more chew (like Badiali’s or Mac’s).

Definitely better than Popolo overall. And compared to the only decent pizza slice place nearby, Maker’s, Bello wins for slice size and topping quality and quantity. But I prefer Maker’s crust and at half the price.
