from seed packet. no clue of the type but fairly bitter. i must have stockholm syndrome because nobody else seems to like it but i've been using it in sandwiches and salads to great effect. i bought lettuce and kale but they look and taste so similar i don't know if any kale sprouted.

Is that really lettuce?? It looks like radish leaves or something else. Kale and lettuce seeds and plants should be distinct. Kale seeds are round, lettuce seeds are flat and almost long teardrop shaped and flat. Kale grows upward, lettuce not so much until bolting. Lettuce also doesn’t form leaves the same way usually.
100% not lettuce. It might be kale but none that i’ve grown, possible mustered.
Is it a mustard green? That would be bitter?
For you have any leftover seeds? That may help with some clues about what is growing.
I’ll be honest, I don’t believe they are lettuces, but they do look like an edible leaf, either mustard or radish. Radishes sometimes have little soft spikes on the underside of the leaf and will, eventually, develop a thick root aka a root. Mustards generally don’t develop any thickness at the root. Those are just ideas of how to distinguish what you might be growing.
That’s definitely mustard.
Yeah those are mustard greens of some kind
Looks like mustard greens, I had some sprout from a packet of cabbage seeds. I personally find them too bitter but plenty of people eat them raw as a salad or cooked like spinach.
