Footballers have delivered over 200 festive food parcels for Christmas in aid of the Foodbank
On Sunday, December 21, the players and staff from Laverstock and Ford volunteered for the second consecutive year to distribute food parcels to people in need, in partnership with Salisbury Food Bank.
These deliveries were organised by Louise McConnell and Chas Kimber, who is a member of the board of trustees for the Salisbury Food Bank.
Liam McConnell, first team manager at Laverstock and Ford, said: “It’s a really humbling thing to do to help, just do a little bit, and to give to those who really need.

“A number of these families may not be able to afford any sort of dinner on Christmas Day, so to help families in a small way like that was a really rewarding experience.”
The club’s involvement went beyond just the senior squad.
In total, 20 players from across the club, including youth players, joined forces with coaches and parents to deliver vital support to the community.
Mr McConnell said: “Players from the first team, youth teams and management, along with parents, came down and delivered”
“It’s the second year we’ve done it, and certainly something we’d look forward to doing again next year to help.
“The work that the Salisbury food bank does is incredible, and we were really taken aback by just how many people in the local area really need such support. Food is something that you take for granted.
“Obviously, the cost of living is expensive for everyone, and I think that to shine a light on the work the Salisbury Food Bank does and to get more people aware of what they do, and to get them more support, is vital.”
