Trying to decide if I should gripe about this or just move on and from a different roaster. How typical is this much variation in one bag? I’d like to be sure I am not crazy and this is normal…

If you want to see the roaster succeed, you should reach out. Businesses can’t fix mistakes if they don’t know about them.

And no, this is not normal. If such variation existed throughout the bag (instead of you finding 8 abnormal individual beans among 300 perfectly uniform ones), it’d be near impossible to dial this bag in.

  2. wow, that’s bad. if i roasted this myself (i roast coffee at home now and don’t buy from other roasters) i’d be really disappointed and i’m not a professional

What was the coffee meant to be? A “dark roast” espresso style or some kind of artisinal blend?

  4. You could also call it dazzling. 😉 Why should something that has long been accepted in whiskey be considered bad?
Just try it and see how it tastes.

That’s beyond uneven! It’s ridiculous that it goes from light to very dark in the same bag. I’d return it, if I were you.

The one at the top is a Shartbucks medium.
