Picked up another Wagyu roast this time an 11 lb Japanese A5 Wagyu New York Strip Loin from Costco for $799.

Breaking it down cleanly into portions and rendering the excess fat.

And yes—before it comes up—upgraded knives this time 🤣

Sharing for the meat appreciation crowd.

I’ve tried A5 wagyu twice. That’s one too many times. If I want “decadent” with beef I’ll just do roasted bone marrow or beef tartare.

This is the LaCroix of steak. Fat with a hint of meat flavor

Slice it thin, grill each bite on a grill in front of you, add salt.

This looks absolutely beautifu, but I’ve never had the pleasure. Is it just an absolute mouthgasm or does is seem like you’re just chewing a bunch of fat?

Did you weigh the excess fat you trimmed off? Probably like $100 worth

Bravo! Would you grill it or pan/oven? Maybe dumb question I’ve never had it B4

No thank you, ill just salt brine my choice ribeyes from my Texas grocery store and save my heart some trouble.

Ten minutes in the microwave on high should thaw it out properly…

Unpopular opinion, but find Wagyu meat to be just too greasy. I appearance that the steak has flavor but it feels like I’m just eating fat juice.

I love the brokeness in the comments. Anyone who can afford this should experience it as many times as they can.

  11. At that point just buy fat. It’s much cheaper and tastes nearly the same

  12. Now I know what “can’t hold a candle to it” means.

Cattle bacon is a real thing. It’s like $2 a lb. You got scammed. People who don’t eat pork bacon eat this

Congrats buddy. That’ll be unbelievably delicious. I love the comments saying they wouldn’t pay $800 for fat.

  15. I think to all the people complaining about wagyu being too fatty, don’t eat it in a thick steak, that’s really not ment how it’s supposed to be eaten. Thin slices in yakinku, suki-yaki, and shabu-shabu are quite delicious..

What’s the plan for this thing? I bought a 4lb a5 ribeye from Costco 6 months ago and still have half of it left lol.

I demand that you share your plans!

  17. People here are clueless or what? This is not meant to be eaten like a regular steak.

  18. You can tell in the comments who has and has not ever had A5 before.

  19. I guess I’m one of them because my biggest question about this cut or type of meat is “Where’s the meat !”

    🤦🏽‍♂️🤣🤣🤣

I thought people couldn’t afford groceries these days?

    Beautiful sight of wagyu though.

So it’s bacon then. Why not just get bacon

I mean this thing is definitely awesome, but I just don’t see a need or a purpose to buy one of these. A regular person can’t even eat a whole wagyu steak because of how rich it is. Very cool though.
