Hello, Hello, Hello!
We've finally reached the final post from my Scandinavian trip the legendary Geranium!
I wish I was coming with a better report but sadly I think this was by far the most mediocre meal of the entire adventure. I am not sure if it was because we had done Alchemist the night before which was utterly perfect but for our experience they missed on every front.
Service- I had read a lot about how their service was almost like a ballet in how smoothly it moves through the dining room and kitchen presenting a staff that was entuned with the flow of an evening. Our experience was not this elegant. It was a lot of little mistakes that while not night ruining seem very unexpected at a 3 star establishment. Plating was put down for the next course only for others to come and take it a few minutes later because it was placed in error and then an even longer wait for the next course to actually begin. A new one for us as well was that we both ordered still water but on one of their refill rounds they poured sparkling into our half empty cups.
I also noticed a lot of just busy movement that didn't seem to actually be accomplishing anything other than to be a distraction.
Food- I will give them their flowers first, their plating is second to none, there were many times where a course looked like a work of art, but sadly the taste didn't match the looks, it seemed liked they would hit on one dish (The Truffle Soup is a top 10 dish for me) and then follow it up with a pretty mediocre course, and the scallop being the main entree which seem to be just a scallop in butter was a bit of a letdown.
Overall we walked out regretting the very hefty bill wishing we had done a last minute switch with Punk Royale.

That’s disappointing to hear. It’s been a while now since I went, but it was the best meal I’ve had to date.
Thank you for another amazing update.
Can you rank the spots you visited? (Your Iris posts have it high on my list!)
I’m sorry to hear this. It’s quite unfortunate. I enjoyed dining there both at lunch and at dinner. I’d still go back next time I’m in CPH.
Totally agree. (And I also did alchemist night before)
It’s exactly because you dined at Alchemist. Your expectations went up exponentially and it was going to be hard to match that.
It happened to me in San Fran, I had done Lazy Bear, Benu and Atelier Crenn before Saison. And Saison was my least favourite after the trip, it just didn’t hit my expectations after the dining experiences of Lazy Bear and Crenn and the food at Benu.
But 7 or so years later, I started looking at photos and realized I didn’t enjoy it as much in the moment because I kept comparing it to the other restaurants, but now I look back on it and I realize it was an amazing experience that was effected by my own expectations. I can still taste that uni toast dish
I hope you have a similar experience in a few years when you rediscover it
The dessert looking just like magnum ice is throwing me off 😅
I had much the same experience as you – it was *fine* but at that price point and those accolades, fine is absolutely not good enough. Average food and a bunch of little mistakes in service. What capped it all off for me, I went there with a teetotaler and we both ordered the non-alcoholic drink pairing – they sent us home with a bottle of beer each as a parting gift.
I did the same Alchemist then Geranium cadence. To be fair, I feel that anywhere I went the day after alchemist would be a let down.
