Christian Ministry of Lincoln County held its annual Christmas food and toy give away last week. The ministry served 563 families with wheelbarrows filled with food and gave toys for 603 children belonging to those families. “We owe a giant thank you to the community for making it possible,” said executive director Mitzi Williams. Volunteers come to help from all walks of life – Lincoln County Home Educators, Scouts, a business and families. Work for the event starts in October with churches collecting food and toys. Angel trees are placed around the community as well. Volunteers Marge Stula and Marian Beebe head up the toy drive and Ralph Zello is in charge of the food collection. The soup kitchen was moved for the day to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where members volunteered to cook and serve.
