Hello all! I just joined the Kamado Joe journey as of yesterday when my wife surprised me with a classic Joe II! I noticed there is some chipping on the base of the unit and was wondering whether this would be something that I should bring up with the seller to exchange it out for another? When I run my finger over it powder comes off. Thoughts?

My kamado shipped similar to this. I just contacted customer service and they shipped me out a bottle of touchup, similar to nail polish. Quick easy fix and can’t even notice it

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. On mine I got some touch up paint just to seal little bits like that to stop moisture getting in. Not even sure if that would be an issue.

It’s only cosmetic and when the Joe moves a little bit in the cradle it might happen some more.

  3. I would not – this is very cosmetic and while I know we all expect flawless items considering the investment, I think it’s also worth acknowledging that this thing was made an ocean away and transited quite a bit to get to your door. When something similar happened with mine, I reminded myself that I bought this thing for what I could do with it, not for how it looks in my gallery. Touch up paint, make some amazing food, and if you’re like me you’ll be surprised just how quickly you forget about this zit.

Thank you to all who responded! I’ll get the touch up paint and get on with it!

No, I’d ask them for a bottle of touch up paint and apply it to the affected area in 2-3 coats allowing for complete drying between each coat.

My Konnected Joe had a chip but wasn’t bad, the company sent me two nail polish sized bottles of the paint to touch it up. Worked well.

I’d ignore that. Perfection is the enemy of “good enough.”

As others have said, I had an almost identical chip to you, contacted KJ and they sent me some paint.

No, request some paint, touch it up as long as the rest is fine

Definitely would not worry about those chips. We’ve had the same. As others have said, get the paint to touch up if it really bothers you. It will not affect the cooking, which is the most important thing.

Start cooking and enjoy your food. You can use some touch up paint if this really bothers you.
