Not the type to miss an opportunity, The Jersey Diner crew had no choice but to taste test at Jersey Kebab again now that they have officially opened just a short walk from The Retrospect’s office in Collingswood. We were just checking to make sure everything is still in order, you know?

It is safe to say that Jersey Kebab, a halal eatery serving up Mediterranean dishes, has still got it. Our photos for this week may look half-eaten because we were too excited to dig in.

One major highlight from our meal was the cheesesteak gyro, which is the best of both worlds. A generous portion of tender beef-lamb gyro meat is served covered in a cheese of your choosing and wrapped in a pita. Multiple crew members raved about this dish, with one stating that it was better than cheesesteaks you would get at your average pizza place or sandwich shop.

If chicken is more your thing, the chicken shish kebab is as tender as it is delicious. Whole pieces of white meat are seasoned well and cooked up along with bell pepper and onion. The crew also enjoyed the rice that went along with this kebab, which was fluffy and buttery.

A falafel fan’s favorite, we found theirs to be fantastic. Nice and crispy outside, tender inside and with great flavor.

Any of these dishes can be amplified with one of the many dips Jersey Kebab offers. We went with the classics. The crew found the hummus, cucumber tzatziki and the meze, a spicy walnut dip, to be excellent. The babaganoush was also very good and without a hint of bitterness!
