I've been dabbling in sourdough starters on and off for the last year or so and mostly bake with the discard, making brownies and cookies.
I received the BANTBSKT starter set for Christmas and decided today (yesterday) was the day I was going to jump right in and bake my first loaf.
I followed a basic recipe/schedule I found online and kind of just went for it. I got a little loosey goosey with the timing, lost track of time, and did my 3rd set of folds about 1.5hrs later than I was supposed to.
I was a little paranoid that it would burn because my oven tends to cook things faster than usual. I did turn the heat down from 500 to 450 when I put the dough in preheated dutch oven instead of waiting until halfway through. I'll follow the instructions next time
I thought my loaf was so pretty when I pulled it out! The bread tastes so good. The crust is perfect and the insides feel pretty good, not at all gummy. I'm happy with this first result but I am excited to bake again next week and start improving.
I'm pleased with my results but welcome any feedback ☺️

It’s so pretty! Inside and out. How do you guys make the circular ring swirls around the whole loaf?
