That’s ice cream mochi, a rather modern american invention (although by a Japan-based company). The responses you are mostly getting here, given that this is a sub for Japanese Food, are talking about actual mochi (not knocking the tastiness of ice cream mochi though!).
That said, for actual mochi? Red bean or black sesame.
For ice cream? Lychee.

This…. Is technically not mochi. This is an ice cream daifuku. Somehow in America it’s become known as just mochi. It has mochi around it, but it’s not mochi as a whole. Mochi is pounded rice.
But at any rate… when it comes to mochi foods… I like yatsuhashi. :3 red bean and cinnamon is an underrated combo.

Another voice in the crowd saying this is not mochi, nor is it technically Japanese. It’s Japanese-America fusion food. When I lived in Japan, I could barely find these, which is how I ended up finding It’s more of an American thing.

Yakimochi with soy sauce and nori. Savory over sweet any day of the week. My obaachan’s family makes mochi on their farm. Nice memories as a child.
