I am looking forward to buy a grinder for espresso only setup. I’ve heard opinion of YouTube influencers, but not real people long term experience. Is there something you’ve liked or disliked, or nobody talks about?

Some info: I’m in the US, I drink both straight espresso and milk drinks, but preferably cortado and flat white, light roast over dark, I use Kingrinder K6 now for grinding, and I really need my grinder quiet because my wife loves to sleep in the mornings

I’m very happy with mine. It’s not truly 0 retention. I put is slightly more than needed and weigh it after the grind for a consistent amount.

I’ve had one for a couple years now pulling 1-2 shots a day and love it. With regular cleaning/maintance, you should get many years of service out of it. Only issue for me is the spout can spray grounds that miss the dosing cup, which can get messy at times.

I have one and think it’s great. I think it looks good too. You use to use the bellow a bit forcefully to expel all grinds, but I think it’s a great grinder.
When grinding coarse for other methods it is a bit messy as it produces a lot of fines. For espresso it’s very good and consistent. And the noise is not bad at all.

  4. I’ve got the Zero 16CR and been happy with it. The dial can be annoying though especially if you sometimes use it for brews other than espresso. I’ve been planning to buy the Aro or other after market dial for it, it’ll probably fix the issue. [https://aroespresso.com/products/grinder-setting-dial-for-eureka-mignon](https://aroespresso.com/products/grinder-setting-dial-for-eureka-mignon) For retention there is usually about 0,2-0,6g of retention without using the bellows, but after closing the metallic hopper lid thing and giving a couple of strong whacks of the bellows while the grinder is still running the retention is zero for me. The noise level is surprisingly quiet and I almost feel that whacking the bellows produce more sounds than the actual grinding itself. Make sure to buy the espresso version though, there is also the brew version made for filter coffee.

I have it and I’m pretty happy with it. I never weigh after grinding so I don’t know if the retention is truly zero or not. The static reduction is legit, I haven’t had to used RDT since I got it.

  6. I got the zero 65 and love it. Think it’s worth the price difference since most people immediately update the dial anyway..

Ive had one for about 6 months now, absolutely love it. I really love how simple it is. It took me a while to figure out the right grind setting to be around but zeroing it was really simple. It retains a bit so I usually do like 0.1-0.2 over what I need but depends on the bean. Cleaning is also dead easy.

I almost exclusively use it for espresso, I’ve done a couple pour overs as well which turned out well.

Just had the 55s arrive yesterday and so far impressed. Came with the king size dial and don’t think I’ll need to get an aftermarket one. Definitely need to use the bellows to get the hopper emptied but the system works. Looks nice and runs pretty quiet can’t see myself upgrading unless it breaks.

I bought an 55 Silenzio off FB marketplace and tried it for a week and then immediately resold it. Even with a single dose bellow and a bunch of Amazon add ons, there was a TON of retention (0.3-0.6 on every shot no matter what I did) and the grinds got absolutely everywhere. I know people love it but I don’t really get it. I immediately resold it. Would not recommend

I’m about 3 weeks in on using one, 2 weeks with the aro dial added. Much improved consistency over my old hand crank C3 Pro. I didn’t realize how much I was fighting that until moving to this grinder. My guess is with the rpms and flat burrs vs slower grind and conical burrs I was breaking my beans more and producing lots of fines (well finer than intended) mixed in vs cutting them to size with the mignon zero. Work flow is just so much quicker now too. Other options out there with stepless, but that is gravy for fine tuning your grind.

All I’d say about your post is find a sale as your price range is a hair high. I found (still out there for US shoppers) it for $350 with a little more off with a discount code. I think total, with the add on dial and angled pad I was out about $400. Would definitely recommend based on functionality, can’t speak to longevity but seems to be part of what these are known for, so there’s that.

Gears needed to be aligned out the box to really get down to the finest grind settings (can find youtube tutorials). Other than that it’s very robust and easy to maintain.

  12. I’ve had mine for about a month and love it! I weighed out a few grinds at the beginning and it was pretty much zero retention. I love the fine adjustment and am very happy with my shots (although I came from a Breville Barista Express so don’t have much to compare). Compared to the Express’ built in grinder, it’s quiet!

I’ve had mine for about six months and really like it! I’ll agree with what some of the others are saying that the overspray can be a bit messy but that’s a small issue compared to the really high-quality grind. I use it with the Breville Bambino plus. A friend has the same espresso machine, and he ended up buying a bunch of gear to try and get the best tasting coffee – I don’t have any of the extra gear. I just have a better grinder.

I got the Libra for xmas. Love it. Total game changer.

  15. Eureka mignon zero feels quality, is quiet, and I got consistent medium/dark roasts out of it. Definitely recommend the aftermarket knob for it to dial in consistently, especially if you change coffees/styles often. The Mignon zero had a large amount of retention and was highly reliant on the bellows. Retention was acceptable if I smacked the bellows like it owed me money. The dosing cup holder felt cheap/flimsy and the process made a mess on my counter.

I ended up returning it and buying a Timemore 078s for 20% off. The Mignon made me realize that I value the workflow and nice touches more than I realized I would. I didn’t think it would be a big deal to me but it annoyed me.

I’ve had my Zero (55) for almost two years now. It’s quiet, fast, and beautiful.
I use it for espresso and espresso-based drinks.
Its stock adjustment is just ok.
Occasionally I’ll have to knock a bean or two into the burrs due to adhering to the hopper because of moisture (RDT) on the beans.
    Minor quibbles really.

I use my other grinders for non-espresso brewing.

Have mine for two months now. Added the big custom dial from Aliexpress (looks like the Aro one but cheaper) and I 3D printed a stand so it’s at an angle. Since I roast my own coffee I had some troubles going super fine and to fix that I had to re-align the burrs for a more uniform grind. Still getting really close to chirping “zero” but it’s much better after re-aligning. Really liking how silent and fast it is and soooo much better than hand grinding haha

I’ve had this grinder for a little over two years and it has been great. We got a larger printed dial for it. We do almost no maintenance on it and it’s relatively quiet. Ours did get a touch clogged when we use to give beans a little spray of water so we stopped doing that. Honestly my only complaint is that it’s not as cool looking as some other grinders.

I have a little stand in front of it that the cup sits on, otherwise it will spray a little. But great machine to pair with a flair

Ignoring the dial indicator it’s first class. Dealing with micro changes without knowing where you are is quite annoying.

  21. I have this in white. Flawless so far!

One gripe/question I have is about the fork/holder for the grind cup. Why is it so wonky and complicated? Is it supposed to be adjustable?

  22. ScotchCigarsEspresso

I have one (LX Italia Newton) which is the same grinder in a dofferwnt casing. , I have found it to be a very good grinder. The stepless grind adjustment is awesome. You can really dial in a grind.

  23. catBravo

I’ve had mine for about a year now and like it so far. I mainly do 1-3 shots/day (depends if wife wants one and if I want two) and it’s been really consistent

The on/off switch being in the back is a little annoying but that’s just me being nitpicky

  24. Rog_rotten

I’ve been using mine everyday for almost a year and I love it, it does have a bit more retention than my other grinder but using RDT and the bellows really helps, you might have to tip the grinder towards the front once in a while to get all the grinds out of the chute. I know it’s an espresso focused grinder but I still use it for french press, pour over and cold brew and it does a great job.

Also, It’s very easy to find aftermarket accessories for Eureka Mignon series, I’m not sure if any other grinders have as many aftermarket options, this was what pushed me towards the Zero over other similar grinders.
