Volunteers prepared and delivered 1,025 meals on Christmas Day in the Monroe County area. Rev. Angela Johnson and the Reconciliation House, Inc. began the ministry several years ago and it has grown quickly.
Volunteers work making preparations for the meals and delivery for almost the full week before Christmas, and the work of collecting donations and names of people who need meals begins long before that.
The Christmas ministry is now based at Christ Church on Frontage Road in Forsyth.
Johnson will tell you that the ministry is about much more than providing a meal on Christmas. It is about letting each recipient know that someone cares about them and about sharing God’s love and the joy of Christmas with them.
Most volunteers will tell you they receive more than they give when they help with the Christmas meals.
