Hi all. I am hoping to place an order for a machine today and am curious of your thought between these two – Vertuo up and Vertuo plus.

It’s a toss up between the two. But most likely I would go with the UP!

Edited: Also the UP supports the larger capsules which the Plus does not. And also the UP has temperature and volume control on the App that you use.

Amazon has a better deal on vertuo plus + aeroccino. I’d take a look at how much it costs there before purchasing on Nespresso

I have both, I would not recommend UP.
There is a lot of access water in the disposal tank after each use. The main reason for this in my opinion is that the up you have to put the pod sideways. So water shoots through the pod horizontally. The plus, you drop the pod in with the foil facing up, so water is being pumped from above the pod. Also, the plus spins the pod, so it will give you more crema.
Honestly, Nespresso tried, but they missed with the new UP. Even though is older, I would go with the Plus.

I only have the Plus, but my experience has been extremely positive. If I was in your position, I would go with the Plus. It seems to be the most reliable VL machine. Nespresso doesn’t have such a great track record with their VL models. The UP is still too new (unless it was released earlier in Canada or the UK) to know what issues might arise.

The water tank swivels with the UP and I prefer that. I have the black one.

I’ve heard of a lot of people having issues with the new “Up” with leaking in the drip dray. Some people have been putting sponges in the tray and changing them out frequently. I personally couldn’t live like that but if you don’t mind, then it seems like a good machine otherwise.

There are posts in this sub about experiences with the UP. One of the biggest draw backs I’ve heard is the mess created in the pod bin due to leakage from the pods. For some reason, the used pods come out of the machine quite wet. This seems to be how the machine normally behaves and not an issue from a defective model.

Imagine the pristine white getting ruined by coffee sludge from dripping wet pods. Sounds like a pain to constantly clean up…the UP. By that fact alone, I would go with the Plus.

Update: with shipping the plus will be about $400. Wondering if I should just get the new machine?

I have no experience with the Up, I use the Plus and absolutely love it!

I have four Vertuo machines and a CitiZ Platinum with Milk. The Up is quite good. The best overall is my Evoluo. Cannot beat that machine. The Up is a very close second, with Vertuo Next at third place and the Pop+ way back in fourth place. In fact I’ve drained and packed it up. The CitiZ Platinum I love to death. It’s a whole different platform. A dedicated hot water spout? Damn.

There may be a lot of opinion in the machine but oh boy, Up is so pretty. I have Plus and Pop+ and Plus is more durable for sure.

I paid $180 I think at Target for the Vertuo Plus with the steamer. I love it I don’t have much to compare it to but Starbucks and Keurig but to me it’s great and taste better than both

I’ve heard the Vertuo UP is not a good machine

  14. I have both of these machines and I like them both but i haven’t had the Up long enough to vouch for its durability. I would say go for the Plus since it is reliable. I had mine for years before being gifted the Up.

I really like my Vertuo Up though and it is absolutely gorgeous. Has a smaller footprint too which I enjoy. I also don’t have the vibration issue with it that I had with my Plus (cup would vibrate off the cup plate when the machine would brew so I had to put a paper towel under it to keep it in place).

I’m not a fan of the Nespresso frother so I use the Instant Pot one that I got off of amazon.

Aside from the clean “Up,” it can make 7 different sizes (ristretto intenso, espresso, double espresso, gran-lungo, mug, alto, and carafe) and has a condensing button, so functionally it’s a bit more advanced than Plus which only does 4 sizes for you – but if you’re only drinking doubles and mugs – there’s no need for 12 and 18oz capsules. The selling point on Up to me is the sustainability – machine is made mostly from recycled plastic (up to 75%) also, the closure is notably different – Plus has an auto tap – open and close with a push, while Up has a lever, resembling original machines.

Vertuo plus!! I bought it this month and it’s perf!! Plus the color is so nice

I dont have either – i have the vertuo lattissima. From what I researched it truly depends on what u like to drink. If you like a straight espresso or double espresso then do one of the original line machines i feel based on reviews. However, if u like the option of doing the different sizes plus different milk options, and all integrated then the vertuo lattissima is my recommendation. It does pretty much every coffee style you could want, all at the press of a button including milk based coffees. This is especially great for saving on space and electrical outlets.

OP, Canadian Tire has the Vertuo Plus for $149.00. If you have a Triangle rewards card, you can get some money back, plus add a little to your purchase to qualify for the 24 month no fee, no interest, equal payment plan.

Have to remember Canadian Tire is one of the largest Nespresso partners. They even have exclusive models only available at Canadian Tire. I believe they had a white Plus at one time. Might have been the Jump Start model. Anyway, some Canadian Tire stores even have capsule recycling bins. I go there on weekends and see Nespresso employees giving out sample coffees. At least in the Vancouver area.

Edit: I think I see an Evoluo or something similar on their website.
