I’ve been a Heritiers du Comte Lafon
fanboy for about as long as I’ve been wine-nerding (2022), and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. This slaps. Loads of yellow fruit- apples, pears, quince; all mixing with truffles and flinty smoke. Wonderfully balanced with brisk but not overwhelming acidity and a luxurious body.

They are absolutely delicious! Another amazing QPR is Dureuil-Janthial. His entry level Rully is around that price and just as good in my opinion!

I probably can’t but I bet I can find German whites in a burgundy style that far outperform at the same price point

  4. Not many, but I’ll offer Jean-Marc Pillot “Le Haut des Champs” Bourgogne Blanc. Made up primarily of declassified Chassagne fruit, raised in stainless steel. Comes in a tick under $50 on the shelf in my store.

I recently had this at a party and absolutely fell head over heels for it. Was shocked to look it up and see how inexpensive it is for the quality you get. I think my local liquor store is sold out, but definitely going to have them hit me up when they get more. I’m in love

Edit: Nevermind, looks like my local liquor store has one left at $41, might need to get my ass over there right now

A white burgundy? So a Chardonnay? Why not just say Chardonnay

I love Lafon! Caroline’s (winemaker) husband also makes decent wines that I buy.

  8. Great wine. But plenty of other good wines to be found at that price point (also depends on where you’re buying). Some that come to mind
    Dominique Lafon Bourgogne blanc
    Moreau-Naudet Chablis
    Pierre Vincent Girardin eclat
    Mikulski bourogne Côte d’Or
    Etienne sauzet bourgogne blanc

The Dominique Lafon BB has a bit more cut and refined flavors for around the same price. The Maconnnais stuff is good but good BBs from producers like Pillot, Sauzet, PYCM are my preference.

    André Bonhomme

    Viré-Clessé Vieilles Vignes

A bit cheaper but fucking slaps.

Same thing but better burg for price than lafon Macon? It’s like $25? So damn good.

This is a good one. Would also add:

    – JM Pillot’s Montagny + Saint-Romain

    – Guillemot-Michel’s various cuvees in Vire Clesse

    – Dureuil-Janthial’s entry-level blanc

    – Chantereves Bourgogne Blanc (this one’s maybe just a bit above $50)

  13. You’re on the right track with the Mâcon. Others to check out: Guillemot-Michel, Verget (négociant operation of the much more expensive Guffens-Heynen), Château de Beauregard, J.A. Ferret.

If you count Chablis, the exercise gets much easier!

I visited vire-clesse on a whim a few years ago and loved the wines (especially for the price).  It’s a shame they’re rather hard to find stateside.

I don’t have much to add (I’m more familiar with Italian whites), but I want to be able to come back later for recs.

Alain Chavy Bourgogne Blanc. $36 a bottle. All declassified puligny and younger vines from their plots. The wine is magical for the money.

PYCM Au Bout Du Monde (price seems to be ~$55 now..)
    Matrot Bourgogne

These 2 are my value white burgs.
