Making homemade baguettes is way easier than you think. This recipe uses a simple starter called poolish that gives you bakery-quality bread with minimal effort. The crust comes out crispy and flaky, the inside is soft and airy, and you only need a few basic ingredients. No kneading required, just a couple of quick folds and you’re done. Just 4 ingredients!

*Ingredients:*

For the Poolish:

* Water – ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp. (100 ml)
* Fresh yeast – ⅔ tsp. (2 g) OR dry yeast – ⅓ tsp. (1 g)
* Bread flour – ¾ cup + 2 tbsp. (100 g)

*For the Dough:*

Water – ½ cup (120 ml)
Bread flour – 1¾ cups (220 g)
Salt – 1 tsp. (6 g)

Yes, that’s really it. 4 ingredients to make the perfect baguettes at home.

Tools I Used:

Baking pan I used to bake this bread: https://amzn.to/3OZQQT3 (I used two of them, one turned upside down and used as cover)

Alternative pan:
* https://amzn.to/49UyaOo – either two of these, one turned upside down and used as a cover, or one, but covered with aluminum foil for the first bake.
* https://amzn.to/4gnx6Fb – same as the previous pan.

These classic French baguettes have a golden, crispy crust that’s super flaky and an interior that’s soft with very nice air pockets. They slice perfectly for sandwiches, taste amazing with butter, or you can just tear them apart and eat them warm.

  5. This is one of the best productions I've ever seen. The filming is perfect and the sound is exquisite and your obvious connection with the ingredients and process are magical. I've been baking for nearly 30 years and am moved to start over. Again. With this as my guide. Thank you. I've got a vegan friend who will soon be crunching a baguette.

  6. Can you freeze the loaves before baking? There's only one of me, and I can't eat that much bread before it spoils

  10. Tried ordering the pans they recommend from Amazon. After waiting 6 weeks I had to cancel, not worth the wait. Amazon said they were going to mark the seller as false or unreliable. Too bad, because they looked like nice pans.

  11. This looks easy and delish! I have attempted to grow a sourdough starter, but Yeastie Boys are not growing. Think this method with “Poolish” is the better and less time consuming method..thank you for such simple and concise instructions and no excessive yammering.
