Tallahassee area’s landmark restaurants that stand the test of time
Here is a list of Tallahassee restaurants that have withstood the test of taste and time.
Yasou Cafe, a Mediterranean restaurant in Tallahassee, has permanently closed after five years in business. The restaurant announced its closure in a December 29th Facebook post, thanking patrons for their loyalty.Owner George Maximo has indicated a new concept with a “different rhythm” is planned for the future.
The fast-casual restaurant distinguished for offering the “best Mediterranean food in Tallahassee,” by its owner George Maximo is closing for good.
“After 5 years of shared tables, flavors, conversations, and memories…Tomorrow is our last day as YASOU,” Yasou Cafe wrote in a Facebook post Dec. 29. “YASOU was never just a Mediterranean restaurant. It was a pleasant meal that turned into friendships, celebrations that felt like home, and loyal faces we were lucky to serve again and again.”
The intimate Mediterranean restaurant on North Blair Stone Road was prized for its chicken and beef shawarma, chicken kabobs, gyro, buffalo falafel and we can’t forget the loaded Greek fries.
Now that we’ve got the bad news out the way, the owner says there’s no need to fear because a new concept is on the horizon with a “different rhythm” and “different time of day.”
The company’s farewell post hit social media group Tallahassee Foodies, and while patrons are sad to hear about the end of this chapter, they also look forward to what’s next.
One user said, “Oh no! That makes me so sad. My family has loved so many meals with you. We’ll be waiting to see what’s next!”
Others are still coming to terms with the news. Another user said, “Nooooooooo there’s probably more Yasou sauce than blood in my veins at this point.”
Representatives from Yasou Cafe could not be immediately reached for comment.
