What irks me the most is that you didn’t really toast the bread or melt the cheese. The burger patty us fine. We ate this at home while we lived at dad’s when it was cold out and we didn’t wanna go get burger bread. We always had the burgers frozen through, more than we ever needed.

I don’t know why the comments so far are acting like this is weird. It sounds fine. Butter with bread = delicious. Butter with beef = delicious. Butter is often put on steaks. I’m sure it’s great with ground beef.
It’s a great idea. Especially because these frozen costco patties can get a bit dry without condiments. This seems like a way to help that.

My mom would love you. Salt is the only “condiment” she’s ever used.

Butter burgers….

I’m with you, condiments mean you can’t taste the meat properly, while butter has a subtle flavor that enhances the meat taste.

-> dislikes condiments
-> uses one of the most popular ones

Unpopular opinion, but butter is not only a condiment, it’s the best condiment. And before you argue against this, have you ever tried to dip a particularly good french fry into aged cultured salted authentic room temperature French butter?

Sometimes you just want to enjoy something without all the noise. I get it and do simple shit like this on the regular. Sometimes I like the texture difference of untoasted bread.

OP i’m on your side. This absolutely kicks ass. It’s just nice and plain, nothing too extra, add a little salt and it’s a great comfort food.
I’m also partial to some ketchup and horseradish sauce when i’m feeling zesty.

please tell me you at least season the meat with something other than just salt.

Reminds me of college, eating hotdogs covered in butter with the rolls soaked in hot butter.
Was -20f, 6ft snow on the ground, had to trudge through it in snowshoes for a week doing a 200 acre timber inventory for a lab assignment (forest ranger college). College only provided Bologna sandwiches, my lab group used a wisperlite stove to boil hotdogs in butter instead.

Butter is a condiment tho

Depending on where I get my burger at, I will enjoy just cheese from time to time. Putting it on bread is kinda depressing tho.

Well melted butter would technically be a condiment.

If you don’t like the butter, why do you put it on your food?

I’m not entirely complaining here, but aside from the sandwich bread vs. a bun, a simple butter and cheese burger is really not all that bad to me.

butter the bread and toast it instead but ok

When the ingredients are good enough (American cheese is necessary for a burger and I’ll die on that hill), no condiments are necessary. 👍
