Used a dutch oven for this, took 3 hours but my family said it tasted so hearty and comforting! We recently came back from a trip to Austria, and my sister asked me to make this for her at home as she missed this dish so much. I added potatoes to the original recipe, which I’m not sure is traditional. I didn’t make spatzle to go with this but they all ate it with bread!

The ingredients:
2 tbsp clarified butter or any vegetable oil
1kg beef (I used a mix of brisket and some lean stewing beef)
1L beef stock
1kg white onions finely chopped
3 cloves garlic minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp caraway seeds minced
2 tsp marjoram
2 tbsp sweet paprika
3 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 bay leaves
1 tsp salt and pepper to taste
500g baby charlotte potatoes

I cooked the onions in butter for 30 mins, added all the other ingredients in and cooked for around 2-3 hours on low heat, then added the potatoes and salt and pepper for the last 30 mins.
