An Italian deli and bar is set to arrive in Brentwood High Street. Plans have been submitted for Buona Bottega to sell alcohol between 7am and 11pm.

The new arrival is set to offer panino on the go, coffee and cannoli – Sicilian pastries consisting of a tube-shaped shell of fried pastry dough, filled with a sweet and creamy filling containing ricotta cheese. The deli will transform into a wine bar in the evening, offering a selection of food, including charcuterie and cheese boards, olives, and fresh bread. The business is also advertising for staff.

A statement from Buona Bottega said: “Inspired by the charm of Sicily’s botteghe, Buona Bottega was created to bring a little piece of home to Brentwood. Growing up in Sicily, some of my favourite memories are the simplest ones — grabbing a panino on the go, stopping in for a quick coffee, and always feeling welcomed.

“That feeling is what we wanted to recreate at Buona Bottega – a calm, friendly place that embodies honest flavours and southern Italian warmth at its heart. With our focus on authentic Italian cuisine, we are excited to announce that cannoli will be coming soon to our menu, bringing that spirit to the High Street.”

Buona Bottega is set to open on the same spot in the Brentwood High Street where another Brentwood bar had its licence revoked after an under-18 event descended into such chaos that the town’s High Street was closed down for well over an hour.

Around 40 police units were called in to deal with the situation after reports of fighting outside Pink when people were turned away at the venue’s door because it was already full.
