PELZER, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – City Scape Winery has announced the passing of its beloved winery mascot, Pinot the Pig.

Owners said Pinot passed peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 3.

“Pinot was a surprise gift to Debra for her 30th birthday and quickly became a big part of our winery family. Pinot was no ordinary pig. He was spunky, incredibly smart, and endlessly entertaining. As the winery grew, so did Pinot. Within a year, he learned how to sit, jump, spin, hike without a leash, and give high fives.

Being the winery mascot, Pinot developed a taste for the finer things in life. He occasionally tried to sneak a sip of wine and was gently reminded it was not for pigs. His love for gourmet cheese was unmatched, and once he spotted it, there was truly no stopping him.

In his younger years, he would hop in the truck with us for rides to Chick-fil-A and Starbucks, charming employees everywhere by sticking his head out the window at the drive through. He loved long hikes, rap music, and simply being wherever the party was happening.

As Pinot grew older, he moved into a charming cottage at the winery, where he became a crucial part of our sustainability program, eating the leftovers from the kitchen and fertilizing the land.

While our hearts are broken, we are so grateful for the joy he brought into our lives and into this place. Pinot reminded us not to take life too seriously, to laugh often, and to embrace the unexpected. He was truly one of a kind, and his presence will forever be part of our story.”

The winery said it would like to honor Pinot with the community on Jan. 17 at 4 p.m. at the patio cottage for “A Celebration of Oink”.

The community is asked to join and share stories and memories that celebrate the life, laughter, and joy Pinot brought to so many as well featuring Pinot-inspired wine selections.
