Sorry for the delay in updating; I was out of the country.
It's been 17 days since planting, and only one seed has germinated. I'm going to take the best possible care of it to bring it to fruiting age. I'm out of seeds; if the plant dies, I'll have to order more online.
See you next week!

Hi!
How far away is the seed tray from the grow lights?
Soil should not dry out at this stage, and the plant is spindly so move the light closer. You can bury the stem into the soil later luckily so that should take care of the lanky growth.
lil bro needs some water!! also i hate to say it but if your seeds look like this after 17 days i would probably start over. best of luck!
Start over, i dont think that stem will be strong enough, even after buried. Leaning is bad.
Was it reaching for the light?
Although it’s a hybrid, may make it.
Those are very leggy and the soil looks dry.
Though I wish you the best of luck with this damaged seedling, it might be wise to order some more seeds so that you can start some more plants.
Pot up and plant deeper so just a small part of the stem is visible. And as others have said, give it much more light.
OP – Thanks for posting this! ……………Memo to self 2026 : – just because there are empty cells in a container, it doesn’t mean that I have to fill them all and plant EVERY seed in the pack! 😂
Extremely leggy and weak. Only chance at saving this is to pot it up and only leave the top inch out of the soil and correct the lighting. This works with tomatoes because they have adventitious roots. The plant may still be weaker than one that had better light needs earlier (which I saw you were out of town and relative didn’t get the lights on). Next time, just turn the lights on from the get go. They don’t need them to germinate but really need them the second they start clearing the dirt.
When you reseed ( and I really think you should), I recommend that you multiseed each cell, provide some sort of loose cover over the seeded cells to keep soil humidity high, place seeding tray on a heating mat, and use the sunlamp as soon as the seeded cells germinates. At that time, you can also remove the cell cover. Water from the bottom if you can and move sunlamp closer to the developing seedling if it starts to become leggy.
