I was sent one of the rarest boxes of pasta in the world, and at first, I didn’t even realize what I was holding.
It looked simple enough from the outside. But when I opened the box, I knew immediately this wasn’t ordinary pasta. Inside were perfectly formed rings, interlocked in a way I’d never seen before, creating Olympic rings in pasta form.
Only a few hundred boxes of this pasta were ever made!
A pasta that was never meant for the masses
The pasta is called Olympic Rings Pasta, created to celebrate the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy. Unlike pasta shapes you’ll find on grocery store shelves, this one wasn’t designed for wide release.
It was made as a limited run, meaning it’s the kind of thing that exists briefly, then disappears forever. Most people will never see it in person, let alone cook with it.
That’s what makes it so special. This pasta isn’t just food. It’s a snapshot of a moment in time.
Why this box meant more than pasta
For every Olympic Games, the torch is lit in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the Olympics. From there, it begins its journey to the host country, passing through cities and hands along the way.
However, this year, something surreal happened. I was chosen as an Olympic torchbearer!
Being selected was one of the greatest honors of my life, especially given my Italian background and my deep connection to Italian food and culture. Carrying the torch felt like standing at the intersection of history, tradition, and everything that shaped my career.
That experience is also the reason I ended up with one extra box of this pasta.
Why I’m giving it away
I could keep it. Frame it. Let it sit untouched as a souvenir.
But that didn’t feel right.
Food is meant to be shared, and this box represents something bigger than me. So, instead, I’m sending it to one random subscriber following my YouTube channel, someone who supports what I do and loves food as much as I do.
All you have to do is be subscribed.
A reminder of why food matters
At the end of the day, this pasta isn’t valuable because it’s rare. It’s valuable because of the story behind it, the tradition of the Olympics, the culture of Italy, and the way food can carry meaning far beyond the plate.
From the torch being lit in Greece to the Games arriving in Italy, this box connects moments that feel almost impossible to put into words, and getting to share that story with you is the best part. Thanks for being here!
