Maison opened in 2019 with former chef at the Ordinary, Vandy Vanderwarker, and former Fish bartender Will Love, and they continue to deliver classic Parisian dishes and consistent hospitality. It’s not a once-a-year-anniversary French, but more like a neighborhood restaurant that happens to serve classic French fare. It can function as a dress-up date night or a quick stop after work for a drink and a snack.
The room is relaxed, with black-and-white bistro touches, like hexagon tiles on the floor, reminiscent of old-school cafes in the City of Lights. If you sit at the cast pewter bar, you can see into the kitchen. Service is chill, and the bartenders are always happy to strike up a conversation if they aren’t busy.
On Wednesdays, the kitchen puts out a super decadent burger made with duck sausage and hanger steak. The meat is topped with gruyere, caramelized onions, garlic aioli, and a milk bun made with duck fat. Then, if that wasn’t enough, they pour sauce bordelaise over the whole thing, making it a mess to eat, but fun to share with friends.
