We’re not even a week into the new year, and already, one of our most highly anticipated Calgary restaurants is set to open its doors this week.

After months of waiting with bated breath, Francine’s has finally revealed the opening date of its new permanent location in Calgary’s Chinatown. And the good news is that the spot will be opening to the public on Jan. 7.

After beginning its journey as a popular six-month pop-up at Meat & Bread, Francine’s revealed last summer that it was working on its first permanent outpost in Chinatown.

The “petit French bar” concept is being brought to life by bar manager Nate Wry and chef Garrett Martin. Its menu focuses on showcasing old-world cocktails, spirits and aperitifs alongside tavern-focused and a concise menu of French-accented fare.

If you visited the pop-up, you’ll be thrilled to see plenty of returning dishes such as its Ham & Chips, featuring bayonne ham, honey butter chips and aged comté cheese and the steamed cheeseburgers with bacon and onion fondue and brie.

There are also some larger plates, such as the Normandy Fried Chicken and Steak “Au Poivre.”

We’re thrilled to have a little taste of France opening up in the heart of the city.

Address: 306 Centre St. S., Calgary
