But I think their smoked mackerel is delicious. I got 4 cans of it at Target for $4 each…

  1. Yep, still the best mackerel tin I’ve found

I enjoy the almost-candied texture it takes on, that’s a plus to me whereas I’ve seen others complain that it’s “too tough”

  2. Hypnox88

I got it, it was dry to the point I would call it fish jerky. If thats your thing glad you like them. But its a no from me dawg

  3. DuckworthSockins

Idk it’s what got me into this, I try other brands. I love their tuna and mackerel

  4. Melodic_Guidance3767

easily the best mack i’ve ever tried

Who hates on Fishwife?? Fools, that’s who. I’ve only had their sardines but they’re very, very good. And they’re one of the relatively few MSC-certified brands of sardines, meaning they’re more sustainably harvested and with techniques that reduce bycatch.

The products themselves are good, but their prices are high and the hipster marketing is a little silly.

It’s a great can. Love the fattiness.

  8. ChariotsOfShame

I think Fishwife is absolutely delicious- just not $10 for one tin of sardines delicious!

  9. Fuzzy_Welcome8348

Fishwife is fine! The prices are not

I really think their mackerel, trout, and salmon are fantastic! Especially their smoked salmon—Not sold on their sardines or tuna, though, even on a steep discount.

Pricing is real rough but their tuna is freaky good. My brother threw some tins my way for Christmas and I’ve been making the most of them. Excited to try this one.

  12. Motivated-Moose

Products are great. Prices are insane.

  13. GoatLegRedux

There’s nothing wrong with Fishwife other than their pricing. I’ll buy it if it’s on sale but won’t pay full price.

  14. smokedcatfish

When you put mid product in awesome packaging and charge a premium price, you’re going to get haters.

  15. TheRealNickMe

I’ve so far shied away from mackerel as I don’t love it in sushi. But everyone here seems to be a big fan! I’m going to take the plunge and get me one.

  16. FujiKilledTheDSLR

At $4 each nobody is hating on them

It is (or at least was) common to see their tins priced ar like $10-15/tin

  17. $4 per tin??? Now that’s a dang steal for FW. Damn, time to check out my Target!

  18. Dull-Cat-7777

Oh I’m going to go check my local target! Was this a recent find there?

  19. EljayDude

” I got 4 cans of it at Target for $4 each”

Yes, exactly. A lot of the Fishwife hate has more to do with the exact same tin at boutique shops for $15 which is NUTS.

  20. Koasana

i missed that memo…why do people hate on fishwife?

  21. eyesonthemoons

I really like their sardines with preserved lemon. My grocery store had a *really* good Fishwife sale not too long ago- I should have bought more

  22. FuckSpez6969

The mack and trout I have had from them was great! At target it was $5 or 6 for the tin. Not too bad. I have heard the tuna is bone dry so I have avoided it.

  23. krootasaurusrex

The only thing I hate about Fishwife is the price.

  24. RunningLikeAPlover

I still need to try the mackerel. Their products range from average to excellent IMO. I just think it’s not worth paying $10 a can for

  25. DJKaotica

    At that price it’s amazing.

I was happy to get 3 cans of their Smoked Trout for I think $18 at Costco? My first time trying Fishwife and honestly it was quite tasty.

My local QFC has a Murray’s Cheese section which has Fishwife tins for like $14. I’m not paying $14.

  26. melissuhnicole

I’m so jealous. I’m a military spouse living overseas in Germany and I’m dying to try fish wife.

  27. Kind-Bluejay-5648

I love mackerel, I’ve been getting the “Season” brand for a few dollars and wonder how this compares.

  28. Philip-Ilford

No one hates on fishwife, it’s just expensive.

  29. UnableToParallelPark

It’s the price, like most people are commenting. The product itself is very good. It’s just hard to justify paying $10 for a tin of fish. But $4 is a pretty solid deal.
