More than two years after reopening, a beloved Italian restaurant in Trussville is closing once again.
Tamburro’s Italian Home, located off Chalkville Mountain Road in the Trussville Shopping Center, has shut its doors.
In an announcement on social media, co-owner Kyleen Kramer said the management was “deeply saddened” to announce the restaurant was closing immediately.
“This was a very difficult decision, but we can no longer keep the business open,” Kramer said. “We have truly enjoyed this journey and are so thankful for all the memories and support you have given us.”
Dick Tamburro’s Italian restaurant off Glenn Avenue was a long-time fixture in Trussville, located in a porchlined, white house. Diners sampled dishes in small but uncramped dining rooms, with green and white tile floors and wine-colored walls.
Tamburro, who learned how to make Italian sausage from his grandfather, operated the former restaurant with his sons until he retired about 2010.
Kyleen Kramer, Tamburro’s daughter, and her sister-in-law, Tina Tamburro, reopened the restaurant in 2023.
“Thank you for being part of our family and our story,” Kramer wrote. “We wish you all the best and hope to see you again someday.”
