I ordered 8lbs of Vidalia onions but these aren’t the same shape as the Vidalia that I usually get.

The shape is odd for Vidalia, at first glance I would assume those are generic yellow onions

Spanish onions is also my guess. They’re normally pretty strong

My plan was to make my caramelized onions for the month. I should have also asked; is there any way that I can caramelize these and have them taste even half as good as caramelized Vidalia???

You can tell they’re Spanish onions and not yellow because they are always perfectly shaped. They have the taste/aroma somewhere between yellow and white.

I call them brown onions.

Delicious.

Regular yellow onions. Way better than Vidalias for carmelizing because less sugar and water.

I’ll take em if you don’t want em..

“Vidalia” aren’t in season so a little unlikely. Also looks like plain old yellows.
EasyDriver_RM
Vidalias that look like regular round onions were not grown in true Vidalia soil. A sweet Vidalia will be larger and flatter in appearance. It’s the correct soil conditions that create a true Vidalia onion, not just the onion type.
I learned to duplicate Vidalia soil in Missouri to achieve a sweeter onion. Not all of them turn out like true sweet Vidalia soil grown onion. I’m an onion farmer and we sell the round ones as regular onions at the farmers market.

Those look tasty and ready to use. I don’t care what they are called. Just my opinion tho.

Generic yellow onions.

There is a chance they were swapped with Peruvian sweet onions but I’m kinda thinking it’s a mixture of different types with some Spanish/yellow mixed in. Definitely not Vidalias, though.

Those are without a doubt yellow onions, you got ripped off
violet_ablueberry
the best ones and the only ones I eat the most
sexylewdyshit
Look like either yellow or Spanish onions. If they’re yellow you got ripped off heavily, if they’re spanish only a little bit.
