When it says in oven for 25 minutes, it means 25 in the right temperature. That’s why you preheat the oven to the correct temperature.

  2. Recipes are AI-generated and not checked by humans

I’ve gotten recipes like this before. Dumb as hell.

It’s AI now. They don’t check it. Just having you do bullshit that doesn’t matter.

I quit Hello Fresh over the holidays because of AI and am literally making “my own” AI-generated recipes that follow my personal health and flavor priorities, minimize/eliminate food waste, and basically do everything HelloFresh was doing and more… for free. We’ll see if I keep it up once the semester starts because tweaking and proofreading the recipes/shopping lists takes a long time as a beginner/poor cook without a well-calibrated instinct for these kinds of things, but so far it’s going great and I’ve already lost a few pounds while eating the same amount or more volume-wise.

In the past I have seen meals like this where you sear the meat in a pan then finish cooking it in the oven. They are constantly changing up the meals and this seems to be an oversight that could have been avoided if humans wrote it instead of AI.

It took me 10 seconds to copy the above image, paste it into Gemini and ask it to check it – it reported:

The recipe asks you to preheat the oven to **$450^\circ\text{F}$** in **Step 1**.

    * **The Inconsistency:** Nowhere in the remaining 5 steps (including the steak, potatoes, or gravy) are the oven or a baking sheet actually used. The steaks are pan-fried and the potatoes are boiled/mashed. This is likely a “leftover” instruction from a different version of the recipe (perhaps one where the potatoes are roasted).
