I bought this gasket from Amazon as a replacement. It has the adhesive tape that says it's good up to 660 degrees. Has anyone used this with any success? Should I trust just the tape or use gasket maker also?

I have used the base product. My thoughts were, I spent all this time on cleaning the surface… im using the red glue too
Has not fail. And I’ve had several pizza cooks during this time

I’ve used it. You want to prep the surface you’re adhering it to. I use a wire brush to get rid of the old seal, and then some goo-gone to get rid of any gunk. Then I used some alcohol to get rid of the goo-gone residue, and you should be ready to apply it.
And cutting that mesh is a real bitch. You really want to focus on the seam. Try not to leave a gap or that will be the first place you get a little bit of leakage.
I’ve done it twice, always in good weather. It sticks really well, and over time, it flattens out quite a bit.

Can this be used with the Kamados that have the felt gasket

I replaced mine with a Rutland gasket and couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Only need one on the bottom
