Good old fashioned butter cookies are hard to beat! These holiday staples are delicious any time of the year and the best part is the dough can be made months ahead and baked of for an amazing on demand treat! I love the simple flavors and perfect crumb of the cookie. They’re light and not too sweet so I can eat them en mass and still have a skip in my step. You Can also freeze the dough for baking on demand cookies later. These slice and bake cookies are too good to miss!

  4. John please can you tell me at what temperature do you consider your butter ready ? 165? If I go too cold my cookies are cakey – too soft they spread and lost their shape.

  5. Is it ok not to add the sugar coating at the final baking. Will it make a difference in taste as I hate sugar dropping on the floor after baking it.

  6. We’ve been making this basic recipe in my family for decades! It came from my mother‘s German side of the family. But what we do is we roll them out after we have put the dough in the refrigerator and use cookie cutters and my children and grandchildren know these because we call them our fancy cookies! We make them every year!!

  7. Love this content, im wondering, can you add chotolate chips to the recipe, so butter chocolate chip cookies? will it work maybe with semi sweet, I think it would be more interesting also
