Rather than me explain it. Let a professional do it in this video

I've said it before, Zojirushi isn't worth the money. I get it everyone loves Japanese everything because of iPhone's zen design influence, sushi, instant ramen, cartoons, internet weebs, and such things but this is strictly about rice. It's hard for anyone to disagree that Zojirushi is not recommended. As an Asian who eats rice everyday, I want a reliable rice cooker, not one that eventually has a gasket issue, or need to replace the inner pot due to teflon scratches.

Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's the best. but I get it we live in a consumer society we are condition to believe expensive is better. Consumerism + Japanese idolizing, absolutely nobody will listen if you go against the grain, except me.

I'm not here to roast you I'm here to open your mind a bit. I don't want you to be eating dry rice or teflon and especially day old rice from yesterday. All rice cookers work the same. It's a magnetic switch that turns off after all water evaporates. It's simple technology that works the same no matter if you pay $35 or $230.

I do have this Aroma. I'm so glad Pailin's Kitchen made this video, gone through the same exact problesm I did. I only cook my rice in stainless steel and I cook it fresh in the exact portion i will finish, or if i do have leftovers, I can see the rice and put it away.

Sorry if I offended you, but there's no nice way to say, don't buy a Zojirushi.

That’s a lot of words to promote a YouTube channel.

I’ll respectfully disagree with you. Zojirushi for life 🤘

  3. Our Zojirushi has been going strong for 20 years now. Not a single issue.

  4. This isn’t a food hack, *and* its self promotion. The bad content double whammy!

I love that you think people buy Japanese rice cookers because of a cell phone company based out of California and that somehow makes people eat teflon.

I’ve had both, but the rice cooker I really miss is the Sanyo I had in the mid-aughts. These days I just use my Instant Pot with the nonstick insert.

I have made a lot of rice in my life. In a pot on the stove, in a budget Aroma rice cooker, in a Ninja pressure cooker, and in a high end Zojirushi rice cooker (current comparable model is about $640 USD)

In my opinion, the Aroma performs marginally better than a pot on the stove. Rice in a pressure cooker is even better than the Aroma. And the Zojirushi blows everything else out of the water. There is just no contest.

Zojirushi rice cookers are not beloved because they are Japanese, but because they are great quality machines that are really fucking good at making rice. I have been cooking in my Zojirushi for 8 years now and I can’t imagine ever going back. As long as you aren’t using metal spoons to dish out your rice the pot shouldn’t scratch or wear off. I have also not had to replace any parts on my rice cooker.

And NO, rice cookers do not all work the same way. If that were the case there would be no need for several different models of rice cookers within brands. Even Zojirushi has budget options.

They can have different methods of heating, some heat more evenly than others, some have better temperature control, some use pressure to cook the rice, some steam the rice, the really high end ones will even analyze the rice as it is cooking and adjust temperature and pressure accordingly to always give you a perfect result.

If you love your Aroma and only want to cook in stainless steel, that is wonderful! They really do a fine job especially for the price. But you need to do quite a bit nore research on rice cookers before claiming that they all work the same way. You are simply wrong.

Also I am still confused about the notion that Zojirushi rice cookers are popular because weebs and iphones? Seriously, wtf?

  8. That… is a worthless post, holy crap. Yes, Pailin has decided to use the Aroma over the Zojirushi for reasons specific to her; that doesn’t make it gospel. This post is *far* too opinionated about it. Just say you like the Aroma more than the Zojirushi and leave it at that! And I’m not defending the Zojirushi; I use the same damn Aroma model that she uses and I love it (and I have immense respect for Pailin and Hot Thai Kitchen in general; she’s one of my absolute favorite YT creators and I started cooking in part because of her videos, especially the stir fry master class). But holy crap, dude, you don’t need to be that opinionated about which rice cooker people choose. You’re crusading. There’s no need for that shit.
