Been a Hunts guy for MANY years for my homemade pasta sauce, got an exceptionally bad can yesterday. Went back to the store today, found all the other cans had the same canning date, tried the cheaper store brand instead and wow, beautiful tomatoes. Guess I know what I'm buying from now on.

been buying aldi brand fire roasted tomatoes for years. they have a great flavor and make a delicious sauce pretty inexpensively.
Those do indeed look exceptionally better
We have been pleasantly surprised by almost everything we have purchased from the BetterGoods brand.
Hunts is not good btw.
I’m sure they were great, but I’m still laughing at “San Marzano Style Tomatoes.”
Did the first can taste worse or just look worse? The second one may have calcium chloride in it to keep them firm: https://www.seriouseats.com/canned-tomato-types-and-use-what-kind-to-buy
I feel so dumb, I assumed it was a “I found a rat in my can of tomatoes” kind of post until I noticed the sub. I thought, that one on the tough looks rather rat-like 🤨
Oh wow…I thought this was the *growing tomatoes* sub. Never thought about canned tomatoes.
😂🤣😂
The bettergoods canned tomatoes aren’t half bad. I have a suspicion they’re canned by Cento
Use Pomi. They’re the best!
Hunts is absolutely terrible. Worst brand out of any I’ve used. The store brands are better and cheaper.
Better goods stuff is legit. I hate that it’s a Walmart product BUT it surprisingly punches way above its weight class. So I’m not surprised!
