Miraculously found this Eureka Mignon Oro XL at goodwill. I guess the person who donated it thought it was broken but it was just clogged. Any tips and tricks on how to use this grinder? I tried cleaning it but the screw on the back is very badly threaded so I'll have to figure out a way to remove and replace it.

Any tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Take it to a local shop to help.

Can only imagine you paid peanuts so peanuts plus a maintenance you’re still way ahead

This may be the best thing that happens to any of us in 2026 lol, 🔥🔥🔥

So you just found my grinder at goodwill… amazing. Ive got a crono with swapped burrs. They’re essentially the same. Ps they sell cool wood lids on Etsy.

I spent way too much back in 2019 for mine but dam They’re reliable. Just keep feeding them beans.

Great find! It’s worth about $900 brand new.

If you’re talking about the set-screw on the back of the hopper, it’s not that important.

With these grinders, you have to set the zero point for the burrs, the vid below should help:

    Buy lottery tickets today.

It’s a forgiving machine. The tiny grind dial requires a ninja’s touch to make fine adjustments. You’ll get the hang of it. Even though they are a top performer in retention, it’s still not zero retention. Swapping the hopper for a bellows is well worth the $30.

Nice find! I love mine, unfortunately probably paid a lot more than you did..

Wow, amazing grinder. Use that one for a lifetime.

I really like the third party ARO metal grinder dial (Amazon B0CLCB8VQ6) on my Eureka to make the settings more readable and repeatable.

I’m curious why it clogged, mine (1 year old) has zero retention issues. I wonder if they anti-clumping was as good when this was made or user error?

Top tip -go on Etsy and find a nice big 3D printed grind adjustment dial. Or print one yourself if you can. Or makes ALL the difference in control

Best advice i can give…. Let me borrow it

  10. There’s Etsy stores which sell a ramp to mount the grinder on (which makes it look a little like a DF64 from the angle) but it will help decrease retention down the chute. Imo that’s been the most annoying part of owning it

Spend some time aligning the burrs then remember to keep up with weekly or fortnightly cleaning and brushing out all old coffee grounds and you’re golden

Someone probably died so you could pull good shots. Make sure to pull one for all the homies.

Fantastic find, I wouldn’t want that thing hogging all my counter space though. Seems like it was for a coffee shop or a commercial bean operation. I can’t imagine a household ever needing anything that big.

I’ve owned a Specialita before, cleaning was a tedious task but pretty easy. Just pop out the back emblem and basically unscrew the top parts. There’s video on YouTube somewhere for Mignon series.

Meanwhile at my local Goodwill it would be a dirty Krups blade grinder for $19.99 😭

I replaced the top bean storage with a single shot one, and the grind setting knob. They are pretty cheap since many people make those parts with 3D printers.

It looks like missing its portafilter holder, too. The folk is pretty cheap, but you wanna get a genuine height adjustable part with screw.
