A true food craftsman recognised by the Michelin Guide with two Michelin Stars, Chef Ciccio Sultano, has built a reputation for his playful interpretation of Sicilian cuisine. Driven by a passion for flavour and combining traditional and authentic Italian ingredients with contemporary influences built from his extensive experience, the culinary offerings that Chef Ciccio will bring to W Rome will be an unforgettable gourmet experience.

 

Exclusively for W Rome, a calendar of dates where chef Sultano, supported as always by chef Zamperetti and other talents, offers a succession of moments to fully enjoy the philosophy of Giano Restaurant. Thus was born the successful format “Lido Sultano”, dinners in pure W Rome style, a journey from the sea of Sicily to the city of Rome.

 

Nicola Zamperetti is Giano’s Executive Chef: part of Ciccio’s team since 2015, Nicola followed his mentor from the Ristorante Duomo, to the Ritz Carlton Vienna and finally to W Rome, where he joined is his current role. Nicola is not only Ciccio Sultano’s right arm, he is often his heart, his mind and obviously also his left hand. Knowing how to rewrite Sicilian culinary heritage and deliver it with impeccable simplicity, his cooking style is now more Sicilian than Sicilian. For Nicola, W Rome is a “stage” in both its meanings, a place to showcase and celebrate the Italian way of life and, at the same time, the next level of his personal journey.

Named after Janus, the mysterious Roman god who looks at the past and the future at the same time, Giano restaurant shares the same concepts that inspire and fuel W Rome; the past, present, and future. Guests will enjoy a sense of traditional Italian family style dining at this all-day feasting destination with sociable sharing plates. Every pasta dish will be fresh and handmade with Italian wheat semolina, a drizzle of Sicilian oil and a dash of salt, the trinity of Ciccio’s signature style. The signature Spaghetti Taratata with red tuna bottarga, lemon sauce and grouper carpaccio is guaranteed to ignite appetites.

The W Lounge brings the pulse of the city into the destination hotel. Fuelled by live music and DJ sets, the W brand’s cocktail culture leads the way as innovation is combined with an in-depth knowledge of mixology and exceptional ingredients. The cocktails are inspired by the concept of ‘Perpetual Nature’ with fresh ingredients such as herbs, leaves, flowers, and fruits, designed and created by bar manager Emanuele Broccatelli and his team.

Emanuele has a very precise vision of what the art of mixing is: preparation is the key to providing a harmonious service, in balance between the experience guests have and the memory of it they will carry within themselves. With a strong focus on terroir and sacred herbs, Emanuele’s approach to wines and spirits is like that of an alchemist, but with all the fun and tools of our times.

 

In the spring and summer months, the spectacular terrace that houses the Wet Deck, a must in every W hotel, with an outdoor pool, offers striking panoramic views of Rome to be admired while enjoying cocktails, raw foods and pizza with the creations of Seu Pizza con Vista, curated by Pier Daniele Seu, award-winning pizza chef. Set to be an oasis surrounded by greenery and lemon trees, the rooftop represents an alternative side of Rome, while the entertainment of the DJ sets frames a relaxed and stimulating atmosphere.

 

Giardino Clandestino, an open-air courtyard will be the beating heart of W Rome, where friends, families and locals can mix and mingle, sharing a dish or three as they catch a glimpse of the hotel’s roaming entertainment and live performances. Perfect for indulging in an Aperitivo with typical Sicilian street food dishes, such as the classic ‘Panelle’ – crispy chickpea fritters, ‘Sfincione’ – traditional focaccia style pizza and mouthwatering crispy deep fried ‘Arancini’ balls.

 

For those with a sweet tooth Zucchero X Fabrizio Fiorani is the perfect spot to indulge. World-renowned Pastry Chef Fabrizio Fiorani, recently recognised as one of Asia’s 50 Best Pasty Chef’s, returns to Italy to create everything from breakfast pastries, to freshly made ice cream and of course the king of Sicilian desserts the Cannoli.  Known for his Pasticceria Italiana Contemporanea (Contemporary Italian Pastries), this will be Fabrizio’s first dedicated space where visitors can enjoy his unique delights. Guests can expect complex flavours, textures and creative takes on their favourite sweet treats, that use only the best ingredients. Nodding to Fabrizio’s playful nature, those dining at Giano restaurant will receive a coin for the ‘Insert Coin’ sweet machine in Zucchero which will be full of little handmade chocolates from Fabrizio.
