So many people here know more about wagyu than the oldest producer of wagyu in this country, wild.

Snake River has different grades to account for the inherent crossbreeding that happens when you can only buy sperm and not cows. This is probably Black-grade from them, still over 50% wagyu, but aren’t fed as long as their gold-grade which also have higher wagyu genetic percentage.

Wagyu jumped the shark about 5 years ago. Now you see the Wagyu label in every shit-town grocery store in the country.

I would enjoy cooking and eating this completely acceptable ribeye. I hope you did too. I hope you didn’t pay an absurd premium for it. That would be among the nicest ribeyes I can find at my local Wegmans though.

The amount of people in here that only think that Wagyu is only A5 Kobe beef is baffling

Nice Ribeye! I know this is not A5, I prefer a less marbled steak. I had A5 and it’s so rich it made me a bit sick to my stomach. I can’t imagine someone eating an entire A5 steak. This is perfect.

That’s a very nice steak, but I wouldn’t consider it wagyu beef. If you paid Wagyu price for it, I’d get money back.

Probably prime! Not wagyu, not enough marbling

Wagyu is a breed, not a grade.

All the people saying it is not automatically think all wagyu is A5 grade.

Often time, the cab prime looks better than the Wagyu that we cut at work.
