After 6 years of having a modded GCP + VS3 with all the common tools to make good Espresso, i've decided to switch gear and buy a less fuzzy/messy Setup:
– ASCASO Steel duo pid plus
– Eureka ex65 + UGT
– Cecotec Bean& Clean

Initially also bought the PUQ NAVIGATOR but it didnt performed as expected (espescially considering the price / 500 €).

Once the volumetric is set on the ascaso it works pretty consistent (+/- 2-3g).

What puck screen and magnet is that?!
    Edit: spelling

  2. mapperofallmaps

That is one of the cleanest setups I’ve seen.

That’s a dream. I have a bambino plus and getting the portafilter in with one hand without tipping the machine over is impossible.

  4. How do you achieve that sort of shot with no WDT?

the magnet is a great idea, would avoid fishing for the screens in the knock basket 👀

Just when I thought I’ve seen it all on this sub…

  7. This looks so optimal and streamlined! Now I need a magnet also.

  8. Wow, that is impressively mess free. Meanwhile this is me each morning approaching the pile of grounds from yesterday left under my grinder due to static / flying out / my clumsiness.

What is that knock box/portafilter cleaner thingy?

  10. the other day I yeeted freshly ground coffee all over the counter because I was tapping the grinder basket and it flew out of my hands

This is so dialed in. So satisfying to watch

Nice setup! At 4 seconds in the freshly ground coffee looks flat, does the portafilter holder somehow level the grounds out?

Bottomless portafilter will never be 0 mess. Some channeling and spurts will happen. You’ve headed off the hardest part by hiding it with the black ascaso instead of white.

Great setup regardless. I recently stopped using my bottomless portafilter and went back to the stock 2 spout from ascaso because I was sick of wiping up the machine from the small micro channel spurts.

Which espresso equipment do you have?

    This guy: Yes.

Nice setup but the array of multiple objects on the counter (which also need cleaning) is too much and technically a “mess” too.

  16. For the Duo do you have a 20amp outlet? It says it requires it but mine are only 15amp.

I’m still new to the whole espresso journey but I hate tamping. Is that grinder auto-tamping? Is that a common thing?

Great set up. I miss alot about the Steel DUO, but the volumetric isnt one of them. I never used it becasue it was so wildly inconsistent.

I currently have a Atom W75 with UGT being tested with my brew by weight LMLM. Its been great for when im holding the baby and need to make coffee 1 handed.

  20. There’s no way the puck screen comes out clean every time

  21. stucky602

What’s the tamper under the grinder? I’ve tried googling but can’t find it.

  22. Are there any grinders that can let you either mod a 54mm basket or comes with it by default that doesn’t cost $2000?

  23. Been using the same machine since July, from a Bambino. You’re having good luck with the volumetric? Mine is wonky so I’ve just set the bottom “click” to longer than I’d need and stop once I reach output.
