Also the ALDI machine does what a machine has to do.

It’s a rule of thumb that the budget should mostly go to the grinder as that’s the important part.

I also use encore baratza esp and I must say it’s a great choice. Just remember to check every once in a while that the burr screw doesn’t get loose (left handed threat btw)

Which hand grinder are you upgrading from? Do you notice a change in your shots, or is this more of a work flow upgrade?

9/10 easy… you did a right choice where prioritizing a good grinder instead of an expensive espresso machine! You can make a “super” good espresso especially with that unpressurized portafilter. As long as you use beans from a good roastery/coffee shops..
Disclaimer : I am by no means a coffee expert but I always believe a consistent grind size, using a good beans, and the right water will make any coffee taste good.
