This CDMX mayor’s office will have a tamale fair at the end of January! Traditional recipes and more

We don’t stop for tamales in Mexico City! At the end of January arrives the great Tamale Fair in Tláhuac 2026. There will be everything, including traditional recipes of this dish.

For many years it has been a tradition to eat tamales on February 2, Candlemas Day. For this reason, and in order to promote Mexican gastronomy, several events will be held in Mexico City focused on tamales.

When will be the Tamale Fair in Tláhuac this 2026?

The Mayor’s Office of Tláhuac published the call for participants for this fair. In this document it was detailed that this gastronomic event will be held from January 30 to February 2. It will be a weekend full of all kinds of tamales.

It will be held in the Hidalgo walkway and the adjacent part of the Kiosco, in Tláhuac. This is the third edition of the fair. Every year they offer unmissable recipes, so set aside the date.

Tamale Fairs in CDMX this year 2026

Another of the CDMX municipalities that will have a tamale event is Iztapalapa, which will be held from January 30 to February 2 at the Macroplaza. In previous editions up to 100 different recipes have been presented.

On the other hand, the National Museum of Popular Cultures will have its traditional Tamale Fair, from January 29 to February 2. You can visit it from 11:00 to 19:00 hours. Admission to the event is free, while tamales will be sold at different costs.
