I rarely see any posts with red meat here. I know it's not preferred as much as other options in the MD diet but it's okay to eat lol especially if you get 90% lean or above. Idk it's a part my culture and my cholesterol levels are fine lol 🤷🏼♀️
Lazy dinner tonight. Ground beef cooked with evoo, onions, salt/pep paprika, garlic powder. Steamable veg bag (microwaved), Greek yogurt, half avocado, red onions and pickled hot chili peppers (Mezzetta brand).😋

Occasionally
On the MD not really but I rarely ate red meat when I wasn’t following the MD.
I have beef (ground or otherwise) once, maybe twice a month.
I don’t like ground beef so no. But it can fit in the diet sometimes if u like it. U don’t have to restrict urself from the foods u like! Just moderation is all
In this economy?
About once a year, and only grass fed. Beef has a lot more going on than cholesterol and fat percentage.
Very rarely nowadays. My cholesterol is *not* fine. I was eating mostly red meat before my doctor told me to figure shit out. And so here I am. Even 90% lean has 4-4.6g of saturated fat per 4oz. 80% has 8-9g! I’m supposed to stick to under 10g per day. :/
But if your cholesterol’s in control, why not? That looks like a great meal, I’d probably just trade out the beef for something I also enjoy. Chicken, turkey, or fish.
I do eat *some* red meat though, I just don’t really cook with it anymore. I usually save it for when I’m eating out somewhere where I know I’ll already be cheating anyways.
I don’t really bother with it because I find ground turkey works great in things I used to use ground beef for. I don’t cook red meat at home but if we go out for dinner I’ll happily order a steak.
No, I don’t like ground beef. I don’t like most red meats to be honest. The closest thing to this I’ll eat is pork but not that often. My natural preference is fish and poultry so it’s not exactly a sacrifice for me.
Occasionally. Something’s taste better with it where as most things I can sub ground turkey or ground chicken and can’t tell. Bolognese is one I can’t fully sub so that is a ground beef for me!
I eat high-quality grass fed beef once a week.
I rarely have red meat. As you noted, it’s not a preferred protein for med diet.
I have about 4oz of lean red meat a few times a month. I still reduced my LDL by 30 points on MD while doing this.
Red meat usually once to three times a month in the form of ground beef, sausage, or bacon. Cheesesteaks are my guilty pleasure. Sometimes I want a burger. I have pasta dishes that involve red meat. Otherwise it’s mostly poultry and fish for me.
We do 96/4 ground beef maybe twice a month. It’s not much different than ground chicken – but a little higher in the bad stuffs. But once or twice a month seems ok!
Tonight we had our splurge dinner (gets that fast food craving). Lean burgers on multigrain sprouted bread, half an oz sharp cheddar, with veggie pasta and sliced bell peppers on the side.
I never do because I don’t eat meat, but this looks like a lovely, well balanced meal.
Usually just sour cream
Maybe once or twice a month (or less) I will have a burger made with ground beef or steak/brisket when I’m eating out. But I don’t buy it or cook with it ever.
I pretty much always use ground turkey to replace any ground beef recipes.
Beef, no. I grew up on it though so what I do is flavor ground chicken or turkey with beef bouillon, which is okay. I always used bouillon to make ground beef taste beefier before anyway so it’s not totally unfamiliar to me. Not sure if that aligns with the diet though.
I really miss making gyro meat from ground pork and lamb :’) but I have to keep my red meat really really minimal now.
My cholesterol dropped 30 points when I cut out red meat. So … sparingly.
Rarely as I’m heavily into peri menopause and red meat really destroys my ldl and makes me pack on weight. I have a hamburger once in a blue moon.
Now I did have beef the other night because it was cold and my hubby wanted New Mexico green chili for dinner that’s made with beef but we got it from a top notch local butcher and it was super lean. Most of the red meat in my house is for my hubby as he eats it, I mostly stick to plants, beans and some turkey or salmon. I also need to watch my sodium.
Beef is really expensive here, and my child has ethical concerns about it, so it’s a treat. But about once or twice a month it’s on the menu.
My preferred ground meat is this: bison, turkey, beef.
So I do eat red meat from time to time but not a ton.
I really cannot eat beef or pork because my stomach does not like it, but this looks so good! I usually get ground chicken or turkey instead, same deal. So yummy 🤤
What about bison? I believe it’s healthier than beef. Is it a good substitute to rotate in?
