She may be the only person to pop up in more homes every December than Father Christmas himself… it’s the fabulous Keira Knightley!
For this festive special, Nick and Angela are joined around the tree by actor, Christmas film icon and unknown to us, Angela’s former neighbour: Keira Knightley! With a career that includes Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, The Imitation Game and Black Doves, there’s plenty to cover… including the small matter of the iconic Love Actually.
She joins us following her latest lead role… Opposite Joe Wilkinson in the Waitrose Christmas advert. We’ve heard his side of the story, but how does Keira reflect on the day they filmed ‘the big kiss’?
Angela goes all out with a full Christmas feast, led by a fennel and citrus roast turkey at the centre of the table. It’s served with her famous turkey gravy, rosemary-salt roast potatoes, stir fried sprouts with chestnuts and pancetta, and a roast parsnip and grape salad with hazelnuts, chicory and Parmesan dressing that nearly steals the show! Glasses are topped up with No.1 Brut Special Reserve Vintage Champagne on arrival, before the meal is paired with a De Loach OFS California Chardonnay, chosen by the Waitrose wine experts.
With Christmas fast approaching, we get a glimpse into what the festive season looks like in the Knightley household (spoiler: it doesn’t involve rewatching Love Actually). Keira shares her surprisingly specific food rules including her new favourite way to describe flavours as “background” or “foreground” and bravely faces what might be our meanest end-of-show question yet!
Merry Christmas from Nick, Angela and all of us at Dish!

Buonissimo
They are still way more steamed/boiled than i would like. I fry mine in very good butter.
with a drizzle of Canadian maple syrup
I had no idea Waitrose was a supermarket.
'We are going to render the pancetta fat and cook our sprouts in that'….then drains the pan and puts butter in, and then adds the sprouts
A drizzle of hot honey would make them even more delicious 😋
Really nice lol
I make this for my partner that eats meat. My method is identical !
Brussels are my favorite veg, and it ain’t even close!
Mam you added butter and meat, if it ain’t good after that you can’t cook 😂
We gonna cook the brussel sprouts inside the grease of the pancetta , proceeds tonremove the grease and use butter…..
Bland
You are looking great too Angela.Good enough to eat BUT I will not.I am vegetarian.🙃😉
Delicious.
Omg i had no idea brussel sprouts came in a stalk
I'm going to be honest. While i"m sure they are fine, this is not how I'd suggest doing it. She's added almost no colour at all to them, and wasted the pancetta fat. I'd do the pancetta as she had done, drain the fat into the bowl of your prepped sprouts, add your salt, pepper any other spices, and toss. Then arrange them flat side down on a cooking tray at 450F (230C), for 30 minutes. They will become so beautifully sweet with a slight bitterness from the crunchy almost burnt outer leaves. Keep an eye on this because you don't want them actually burnt. Then you can add the pancetta back on top with the chestnuts you toasted.
That's exactly how I do them. Even sprout haters seem to like them that way.
Needs a little lemon juiceand or zest
I've never seen a sprout stalk before. So cool
Chestnuts aren't really a thing here and I've never used them. Whats could replace them?
I like that they made two separate videos for the one meal just so that the roast potatoes could get their own video lol
Love sprouts ❤
My family always first double boils the Brussels sprouts, even before adding them to a pan! This way, the bitterness of the Brussels sprouts disappears, and they come out more crispy (yet perfectly cooked) 😊! Recipe from a half-Flemish family – this is the Belgian way😊! We love adding some caramelised onions!
Ive literally never seen sprouts on the stalk like that.
I do the same method but with two strips of bacon instead. My family loves their sprouts. ❤
Always a family fave
Definitely following this recipe for the big day 😅
I would have added black.pudding to that…
Balsamico Vinigar and pomegranate with bacon and sprouts also a killer combo. Usually i leave out the fruit it makes a bit to sweet for me.

The everlasting quest to make some sprouts that taste decent and go well with everything else at Christmas dinner. Attempted some sriracha sprouts last year which were tasty but did not go well with the rest of xmas dinner 😂 Will attempt your recipe this year
Angela needs her cooking channel ASAP❤
Says sprouts get a bad rap. Then cooks them in a pan of cured salted pig fat.
Thans Angela this is wonderful, I have replaced chestnut with walnuts an the result was wow❤
I LOVE BRUSSEL TOPS. sadly can't eat them anymore due to APS😭
